S. C. Hondros & Associates, Inc. is hiring an Estimator for commercial, institutional, and industrial construction projects.
S. C. Hondros & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1970 and licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina. Our office is located in Charlotte. We provide in-house design-build construction services as well as general contracting services based upon design by others. Our clients include owners and developers.
Immediate Supervisor: Pre-Construction Manager
Duties:
Completion of estimates for commercial, institutional, and industrial construction projects.
Solicit bids and estimates from subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare cost estimates for design-build proposals.
Prepare bids on plan and spec bid projects.
Prepare or aid in preparation of outline specifications for design-build proposals.
Aid in preparation of working drawings through cost evaluation and plan review of design-build proposals and projects.
Responsible for developing and maintaining good client relationships.
Attend pre-construction conference and pass all information and commitments to project manager.
Review cost to date and projected cost of projects, for which estimator prepared the estimate, on a regular basis and address variances with project manager and pre-construction manager.
Estimate change orders as requested by project manager.
Review actual costs for completed projects.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Degree preferred, but not required.
Minimum of 5 years experience estimating commercial, institutional, and industrial projects in the $1-15M range.
Advanced knowledge of estimating, means and methods
Competent with Value Engineering practices
Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
Understanding of all facets of the construction process
Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
Excellent time and project management skills
Expert ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
