15,000 sq. ft.

S. C. Hondros & Associates, Inc. was the general contractor for a new men’s emergency homeless shelter in Charlotte, NC. The new shelter replaced an aging facility on Statesville Avenue.

The new shelter was designed not only to meet the basic needs of its 164 guests but also to help men emerge from homelessness with office space for on-site case management for housing and employment services. The new facility added a cooking kitchen, guest laundry services, a group room for classes, and a mobile computer lab. The building was constructed using pre-cast concrete wall panels for durability and their insulative properties.
